We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Slitter Operator to join our client’s manufacturing team based in Germiston. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring slitting machinery to ensure accurate cutting of steel coils/materials according to production specifications, while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and operational efficiency. Experience in a steel, manufacturing, or industrial environment is essential.
Qualifications and role requirements:
- Proven experience as a Slitter Operator in a steel, manufacturing, or industrial environment
- Strong understanding of slitting machinery, tooling, and operational processes
- Ability to read and interpret production specifications and measurements
- Knowledge of quality control and material handling processes
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot minor machine issues
- Physically fit and able to work in a fast-paced production environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work
- Good understanding of workplace health and safety requirements
- Reliable, dependable, and able to work independently or within a team
Duties & Responsibilities
- Set up and operate slitting machines in accordance with production requirements
- Monitor machine performance to ensure accurate cutting, sizing, and quality output
- Inspect materials before, during, and after the slitting process to ensure compliance with specifications
- Adjust machine settings to accommodate different material sizes and thicknesses
- Conduct routine machine checks and basic maintenance to minimise downtime
- Ensure safe handling and movement of steel coils/materials during operations
- Maintain accurate production records and report defects or machine issues promptly
- Adhere to health and safety regulations, company procedures, and quality standards at all times
- Maintain housekeeping standards within the work area
- Work closely with supervisors and production teams to meet operational targets
