An experienced Bookkeeper is required to support the financial operations of a client organisation by maintaining accurate accounting records and ensuring efficient day-to-day financial administration. The role focuses on managing transactions, performing reconciliations, and ensuring compliance with financial policies and statutory requirements.
Qualifications and role requirements:
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Diploma or Certificate in Accounting, Bookkeeping, or related financial qualification
- Minimum of 5 years’ proven experience in a bookkeeping or similar finance role
- Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial controls
- Experience working on accounting systems such as Sage, Pastel Evolution, or similar
- Strong MS Office skills, particularly Microsoft Excel
- Experience managing accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
- Knowledge of VAT submissions and payroll processes advantageous
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organisational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate financial records and general ledger accounts
- Process daily financial transactions including payments, receipts, and journals
- Perform monthly bank and balance sheet reconciliations
- Manage cashbook processing and reconciliation
- Administer creditor and debtor accounts, including invoicing and collections
- Prepare supplier reconciliations and manage payment schedules
- Assist with VAT preparation and statutory submissions
- Support payroll administration and related financial reporting
- Assist with budget preparation and financial reporting requirements
- Prepare documentation and schedules for audits
- Ensure compliance with company financial policies and procedures
- Liaise with internal stakeholders and external service providers as required
