Our client is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee the successful execution of a factory construction and relocation project in Durban. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring project timelines, budgets, and operational objectives are met, while coordinating with both local teams and international stakeholders.
This role requires strong leadership, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to manage complex projects within a fast-paced industrial environment.
Qualifications and role requirements:
- Diploma or Degree in Project Management or a related field
- Lean Manufacturing Black Belt certification (advantageous)
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in Project Management
- Proven experience in factory relocation projects (highly advantageous)
- Strong budgeting, reporting, and cost-control skills
- Ability to work with international stakeholders and cross-functional teams
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
Duties & Responsibilities
- Ensure the timely execution of a new factory construction schedule
- Monitor and control project expenses in line with the approved budget
- Report any schedule or budget deviations to the international Project Manager
- Provide weekly progress reports and participate in project meetings
- Coordinate and manage relationships with local suppliers
- Lead workshops with South African teams to define layouts and organisational structures
- Oversee the transfer and implementation of suppliers, goods control, and storage processes
- Ensure the successful relocation and commissioning of the new facility
