Our client is seeking a skilled and experienced Millwright to join their team in Cato Ridge, Durban. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, troubleshooting, and optimising mechanical and electrical equipment to ensure the efficient and reliable operation of the plant.
The ideal candidate will be a qualified Red Seal Millwright with proven post-apprenticeship experience and strong knowledge of PLCs, drives, SCADA, and automation systems. Previous experience in the feed industry will be advantageous.
Qualifications and role requirements:
- Grade 12
- Certified Red Seal Millwright qualification
- 4–6 years' verifiable post-apprenticeship experience
- Previous experience in the feed industry will be advantageous
- Team leadership or supervisory experience will be advantageous
- Knowledge and practical experience with PLCs, drives, SCADA, and automation
- Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting abilities
- Good verbal and written communication skills in English and/or Afrikaans
- Valid driver's licence
- Own reliable transport
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform preventative and breakdown maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic faults
- Troubleshoot PLCs, drives, SCADA, and automation systems
- Conduct routine inspections to identify potential equipment failures
- Ensure machinery and equipment operate safely and efficiently
- Minimise equipment downtime through effective fault finding and repairs
- Assist with the installation, commissioning, and improvement of machinery and equipment
- Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records
- Adhere to all health, safety, and company procedures
- Assist with planned maintenance activities and shutdowns
- Provide technical support and guidance to other team members where required
- Support and, where applicable, supervise maintenance team activities
