Maintenance Team Leader

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Maintenance Team Leader to oversee workshop and maintenance operations within a manufacturing environment at our clients site. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring maximum equipment uptime, leading a maintenance team, and maintaining high standards of safety, efficiency, and cost control.
This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to manage maintenance schedules, breakdowns, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications and role requirements:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing or maintenance environment
- Proven experience in a supervisory or team leader role
- Trade Test or relevant technical qualification (Mechanical/Electrical preferred)
- Strong knowledge of maintenance systems, equipment, and processes
- Ability to lead, manage, and motivate a team
- Good understanding of health and safety regulations
- Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Computer literacy (MS Office and maintenance systems advantageous)
- Valid driver’s licence (advantageous)
Duties & Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily maintenance activities and team performance
- Plan and manage preventative and corrective maintenance schedules
- Ensure minimal downtime of machinery and equipment
- Diagnose faults and oversee repairs on plant and equipment
- Monitor maintenance costs and control expenditure
- Ensure compliance with health and safety standards and company policies
- Train, mentor, and develop maintenance staff
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and reports
- Liaise with production teams to ensure operational efficiency
- Manage breakdowns and implement root cause analysis for continuous improvement
